History Club

Exploring history through the Cathedral and it's people!

What is History Club?

History Club is a new group for Home Educated children who want to explore the history of the Cathedral and it's people. We'll be finding out about some of the major events in the history of the Cathedral, including it's origins as a Saxon monastery, and some of the people who have been associated with it. There are so many exciting stories to explore, from Viking raiders to Saxon warriors and Princesses with a difference to medieval medics. All of these stories, and more, are explored through engaging and interactive workshops.

Where to find us

We meet on alternate Mondays between 10.00am and 11.30am in the Cathedral Centre before heading over to the part of the Cathedral that we'll be exploring that day. The Cathedral Centre is on Palace Green, just on the other side of the road to the Cathedral.

Who can join in?

Everyone is welcome to join in, but those aged between 6 and 10 are likely to enjoy it the most. Please don't worry if you have younger children are coming along with older siblings and may not want to join the workshop, we understand that home educators are juggling a lot of demands and can always accomodate you. Our cafe space is available for you to take younger children for a play and a snack whilst their older siblings are in the workshop on the same site.

What will you be doing?

We'll be exploring the history of the Cathedral one step at a time. Our workshops are always very interactive and include a blend of activities from creative writing to art and from role-play to STEM challenges. Below is a list of the dates and topics for the Autumn term:
