National Youth Choir: Ode to the World

27 July 2024, 19:00

Tickets

National Youth Choir's oldest and youngest ensembles join forces for an evening of awe-inspiring music.

The programme opens with James MacMillan’s Tu es Petrus and Processional for massed choirs, brass, organ and percussion. Written to herald the arrival of the Pope at Westminster Cathedral in 2010, these incredible pieces were written to inspire awe and overwhelm the senses.

National Youth Choir (18-25 Years) will mark the anniversaries of Anton Bruckner, Gustav Holst and Charles Villiers Stanford by singing some of their most recognised compositions in the glorious acoustic of Ely Cathedral. The centrepiece of the concert is a new commission from award-winning composer, Joanna Marsh - WORD.

Don't miss your chance to experience the rousing ceremonial fanfares, spine-tingling soundscapes and enchanting melodies of this programme reverberate around you through this magnificent space.
